First Nations Youth Technical Career Summit 2022
Location: Thunder Bay (in-person) and online (Accelevents)
About: This event for First Nations youth in grades 7 - 12 will highlight technical careers in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and connect these topics to traditional Anishinaabe cultural teachings in a way that generates excitement and passion for these fields.
With workshops focusing on the connection between traditional Indigenous knowledge and STEM, presentations include how First Nations youth can help address climate change, the cultural significance of water for First Nations, environmental science through an Indigenous lens, traditional Indigenous housing compared to modern architecture, and more!
Students will also have an opportunity to meet and chat with representatives of various professionals and mentors in the STEM fields.
This event will be a hybrid event, with the in-person portion taking place at the Fort William Historical Site in Thunder Bay First Nation, and will be broadcast live for all First Nations youth across Ontario.
Funding for this event is generously provided by Indigenous Services Canada.
